Educational workshops for students on the topic: Gender-based and domestic violence

The National Network team, in cooperation with the International Balkan University (IBU) and the International Slavic University, held several educational workshops with students from these universities.

On April 26th, 2023, the first workshop was held in the premises of the International Slavic University in Sveti Nikole, where the participants learned about the different forms of violence, how to recognize it and how to deal with it, but also what consequences violence leaves for the victims. The workshop was led by Elena Dimushevska, Executive Director of the National Network, together with Assoc. Dr. Milena Spasovska, professor at the Faculty of Psychology at MSU.

On May 3rd, 2023 at the International Slavic University in Bitola, Ana Avramoska Nushkova, Project Coordinator in the National Network together with Assoc. Dr. Marija Grozdanovska, vice dean of the Faculty of Legal Sciences held a workshop on “Protection of victims of gender-based violence in R. North Macedonia”. The workshop aimed to familiarize the participants with gender-based and domestic violence, the forms in which it appears, as well as its prevention. A key emphasis of the workshop was placed on the importance of recognizing violence, its dynamics and consequences, as well as supporting women victims of gender-based and domestic violence.

On May 8th, 2023 the third workshop was held with students from the Faculty of Law of the International Balkan University, led by Ana Avramoska Nushkova. The lecture was held within the Family and Inheritance Law course taught by prof. Dr. Biljana Čavkoska. The students were acquainted with the legal procedures and national legislation related to gender-based and domestic violence, especially the amendments to the Criminal Code, as well as many facts of everyday dealing with gender-based and domestic violence.
