3-day training on the topic “Response to the anti-feminist movement in Macedonia”

On 14th, 15th and 16th of March 2022, in Strumica, a training was conducted on the topic: Response to the anti-feminist movement in Macedonia” in which 13 representatives of women’s civil society organizations and activists for women’s rights participated.

The aim of the training was, through work on concrete examples, for the participants to deepen their knowledge about the beginnings and influence of the anti-feminist movement in Europe and Macedonia, the main actors and bearers of the movement, as well as to strengthen their knowledge and capacities in the direction of developing appropriate strategies how to give the most appropriate response to these movements.

The training was facilitated by Mila Carovska, who covered several topics over 6 sessions: what are anti-gender movements and which are represented in Macedonia and Europe, who are the anti-gender actors, what is gender ideology, how anti-feminism is connected to right-wing populism, what are the approaches and strategies which anti-feminist movements use, and what are the strategies that can be implemneted in response to anti-feminist movements.

This activity was carried out within the project “On the way to the EU: Prevention of violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia” financed by The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, which is implemented by the National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
