From 21 to 23 January 2025, a three-day training on the topic: “Gender, gender equality and sexual violence” was held at H. Freja in Struga. The training was led by experienced trainers Elena Dimushevska and Hajdi Shterjova Simonovikj and included a detailed program aimed at raising awareness and education on these important issues.
This is the second training for local women’s organizations – grantees within the project “WE CARE: Together we stand against sexual and gender-based violence”, funded by the European Union.
The first day began with gender and violence against women, where this issue was discussed through video materials. After a short coffee break, the participants continued with the second session on forms of gender-based violence (GBV) and the dynamics of violence. The second day continued with a session on sexual violence, and then the legal framework for GBV was covered, which allowed the participants to become familiar with the legal aspects of this issue. After lunch, an extended session on recognition, referral and mechanisms of protection from violence against women and children followed. The third and final day began with a session dedicated to direct work with victims of violence and an in-depth review of the methods and approaches for working with victims.
The grantee organizations participating in the training are: Association of Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Counselors “CORTEX” Tetovo; Center for Equal Opportunities “Bubamara” – Gostivar; Rural Coalition – Kicevo; Association for Development and Activism “AKVA” – Struga; Sport Social Solutions, and Association for Legal Education and Transparency Stanica PET Prilep.
