In 2020, 55 femicides in the Western Balkans were recorded by women’s civil society organizations. Every second woman is killed by her partner. All murders of women took place in their shared home. 65% of the crimes happened in an urban environment, and 35% in a rural environment. Every 3rd woman was killed with a firearm. In 20% of the cases, violence was previously reported at the institutions. The Criminal Code must adopt the amendments as soon as possible in which femicide will be regulated as a crime, and will be clearly recognized in criminal proceedings. #UtnaIzmenaNaKZ#stopfemicide#StopZaUbistvoNaZeni.
