Specialized services provided for women and children – victims of gender-based and domestic violence – 2024

Women’s Support Center – Skopje

Within the framework of the Women’s Support Center – Skopje, during 2024. a total of 1312 services were provided for 265 women victims of violence and 53 children.

Of the services provided, 864 services were provided by a social worker, which included: counseling for the exercise of social rights, referral, accompaniment and advocacy before relevant institutions and other civil society organizations. Psychotherapists/psychologists provided 239 services for women and children victims of GBV and SV. In terms of legal aid and support, the legal advisor provided 163 services, which included legal information, referral to another institution and written submissions. In addition, 23 legal representations were provided in the competent courts. In 2024 the career counselor provided 46 services, covering a total of 40 women.

Women’s Support Center – Tetovo

Within the framework of the Women’s Support Center – Tetovo, during 2024. a total of 563 services were provided for 69 women victims of violence and 62 children.

Of the services provided, 264 services were provided by the social worker, which included: counseling for the exercise of social rights, referral, accompaniment and advocacy before relevant institutions and other civil society organizations. 249 services were provided by a psychologist/psychotherapist, which were in the form of individual and group counseling. 31 services were provided by a legal counselor, of which 2 were legal representation. 19 career counseling sessions were also provided.

Women’s Support Center – Bitola

In 2024, the Women’s Support Center – Bitola provided a total of 335 free support services to 41 women victims of gender-based and domestic violence and 23 children.

Of the total number of services, the social worker provided 51 services for counseling on social rights, as well as for referral, accompaniment and advocacy before relevant institutions and other civil society organizations. The psychologist and the psychotherapist for children jointly provided 238 services for individual and group counseling. The lawyer/legal advisor provided 34 services for advocacy before court and submissions to institutions. Additionally, 12 career counseling sessions were provided for 12 women victims.

In the 3 centers, psychological and physical violence were most frequently reported (85%), with each of the beneficiaries stating that they deal with both physical and psychological violence. In 65 users, economic violence was additionally identified, and in 30 users, stalking. Another 2 users were victims of marital rape, and 7 of rape by a known perpetrator. There was also 1 user who was harassed in a public space, and as many as 8 attempted murders by an intimate partner.
