On 25.10.2024 we held the first regional work meeting of civil organizations from N. Macedonia and Kosovo. At the meeting, we shared our experiences and views on anti-gender movements in the region. We also talked about the challenges faced by gender equality activists and LGBTI communities. The meeting was opened by the Ambassador of France in Skopje, His Excellency Christophe Le Rigoler, who also presented the regional project “In defense of the right to be ME”.
In cooperation with the Embassy of France in Skopje and partner organizations Stella Network (S. Macedonia), and 3 organizations from Kosovo: Jahjaga Foundation, Center for Equality and Freedom of the LGBTI Community in Kosovo ( CEL Kosova) and Center for Social and Group Development (Csgd Kosovo), we work on various activities locally.
We discussed and shared valuable experiences and insights regarding the anti-gender movements in North Macedonia and the region, especially how their strategies set back the state of gender equality and the fight against gender-based violence, as well as the attacks they face in the offline and online space. .
H.E. Christophe le Rigoller, from the French Embassy in Skopje in Skopje recognized the positive change in policy and legislation in North Macedonia regarding gender violence and gender equality and supported the activities and commitments within our project “In defense of the right to be ME.”
This meeting is part of the regional project “In defense of the right to be ME” that is implemented in North Macedonia and Kosovo, financed by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
