Briefings with Donors and Media: 15 Years of Work and Future Priorities

On 4 December 2025, the National Network against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence held two briefings in Skopje—one with partners and donors, and one with the media—marking 15 years since the Network’s establishment. The meetings aimed to present key achievements, current challenges, and advocacy priorities for 2026, with a strong focus on the sustainability of specialized services.

During the donor and partner briefing, the Network highlighted its role in advancing the legal framework, developing specialized services, and strengthening institutional accountability. Particular attention was given to the reintegration of survivors of violence as a critical component of the system that remains insufficiently funded despite being legally recognized. Existing models for housing support, case management, and psychosocial assistance were presented, alongside the need for institutionalized and continuous funding for specialized services.

The media briefing focused on femicides, institutional response, and the role of public awareness in preventing violence. The Network emphasized gaps in risk assessment and early intervention, as well as the importance of accurate, survivor-centered, and responsible media reporting. Strengthening cooperation with journalists was highlighted as essential for raising public awareness and reinforcing institutional accountability.

Both briefings reaffirmed the importance of continuous dialogue and coordinated cooperation among civil society, institutions, donors, and the media to ensure a sustainable and systemic response to violence against women and children.

The activities were implemented within the project “Institutionalizing Quality Services for Rehabilitation and Integration of Victims of Violence II,” financed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) with funds from Austrian Development Cooperation, and implemented by the National Network against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
