Today at the Millennium Hotel in Bitola, together with our partner organization – Association for Equal Opportunities “SEMPER”, we organized a work meeting on the topic “Ensuring the sustainability of the Women’s Support Center – Bitola” – which we opened on 09.12.2022, with a financial support of the Municipality of Bitola.
The work meeting was attended by the presidents of the councils as well as councilors from the municipal councils that are part of the municipalities of the Pelagonia region, namely Bitola, Resen, Demir Hisar, Mogila and Novaci.
The purpose of this work meeting was to acquaint the attendees with the way of establishing and functioning of the Women’s Support Center – Bitola, as well as to emphasize the importance of the existence of specialized services for help and support of women and children victims of gender-based and domestic violence. In addition, the types of services offered by the counseling center were presented, as well as the possibilities and legal obligations of the local self-government units for providing financial resources for its long-term sustainability.
The meeting ended with a mutual agreement that all representatives will make efforts within their municipalities to provide the necessary funds to ensure the sustainability of the counseling center.
This activity is carried out within the framework of the project “Advocacy for the provision of specialized services for help and support to women and children victims of gender-based and domestic violence in Bitola – Pelagonia region as part of the project “On the road to the EU: Prevention of violence against women in the Republic of North Macedonia” funded by The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, and implemented by the National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
