10.05.2018: Presentation of study on violence against children

On 10.05.2018, at hotel Holiday Inn, the study on assessment of institutional mechanisms for prevention, identification, reporting, referral and protection of children from violence, conducted by National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence in cooperation with UNICEF was presented.

The presentation was opened with introductory address by Minister of Labor and Social Policy – Mila Carovska, Minister of Health – Venko Filipche, Minister of Education and Science – Renata Deskoska, Minister of Interior – Oliver Spasovski, Head of Cooperation Unit at the EU Delegation – Nicola Bertolini and Representative of UNICEF in Macedonia – Benjamin Perks. The findings and the recommendations from the study were presented by prof. d-r Stephen James Minton, international expert, and Elena Dimushevska, national expert.

The purpose of the study is to better understand the scope of the problem of violence against children, to identify systemic failures at the level of creation of policies and programs and their implementation, and to provide recommendations that will help in long-term planning for the prevention and protection of children against violence.

The implementation of the study was financially supported by the European Union and co-financed by UNICEF, in the frame of the regional project on protection of children from violence and inclusion of children with disabilities.
