On 6.October 2017, in hotel Romantik – Veles, the third and the last of the planned regional meetings took place with candidates for mayors and heads of council lists in the Vardar region, organized by National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic Violence and Association of single-parent families “One Can”.
The purpose of the meeting was presenting the need for taking concrete measures at local level for obtaining financial means from the local self-government to promote the access to services for women and children victims of violence. For that purpose, Public commitment for the advancement of the protection of women and children victims of various forms of violence, including domestic violence was prepared, that the candidates for mayors were invited to sign, as a significant step towards promoting the systemic protection of women and girls from all types of violence.
The Public Commitment was signed by 14 candidates for mayors, out of total of 25 candidates in the Vardar region:
- Ace Kocevski (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Veles
- Slavcho Chadiev (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Veles
- Zhaneta Chaushevska (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Gradsko
- Robert Beshovski (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Gradsko
- Trajche Dimitriev (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Demir Kapija
- Lazar Petrov (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Demir Kapija
- Jordan Ilievski (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Lozovo
- Aco Velkovski (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Lozovo
- Toni Delkov (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Negotino
- Zlatko Penkov (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Negotino
- Branko Janev (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Rosoman
- Stojanche Lazov (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Rosoman
- Sasho Velkovski (Coalition led by SDSM) – Municipality Sveti Nikole
- Zoran Zdravevski (Coalition led by VMRO-DPMNE) – Municipality Chashka
Prior to the meeting, Public Request and Draft Policy were sent to all the candidates for mayors. All candidates and heads of lists were informed about the meeting in timely manner, through the media, by e-mail and through the contact persons from their political parties.
