{"id":3881,"date":"2020-05-12T09:31:00","date_gmt":"2020-05-12T08:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/glasprotivnasilstvo.org.mk\/?p=3881"},"modified":"2022-07-21T13:25:49","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T12:25:49","slug":"12-05-2020-two-cases-of-femicide-in-less-than-two-weeks-is-a-sign-of-the-system-s-failed-attempts-to-cope-with-domestic-and-gender-based-violence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glasprotivnasilstvo.org.mk\/en\/12-05-2020-two-cases-of-femicide-in-less-than-two-weeks-is-a-sign-of-the-system-s-failed-attempts-to-cope-with-domestic-and-gender-based-violence\/","title":{"rendered":"Two cases of femicide in less than two weeks is a sign of the system\u2019s failed attempts to cope with domestic and gender-based violence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The femicide, one of the most extreme form of violence against\nwomen and girls and most often a consequence of continuous long-term domestic\nor intimate-partner violence, is unfortunately very much present in the pores\nof our family communities and the social system in general. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The alarming case of the murder of a young woman yesterday in\nSkopje by her partner is the second case of femicide in less than 2 weeks,\nwhich points to the absolute and urgent need for systemic mobilization of all available\nnational and local resources and capacities for prevention of and combating\ngender-based violence in all its forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"621\" height=\"321\" src=\"https:\/\/glasprotivnasilstvo.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Capture.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/glasprotivnasilstvo.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Capture.png 621w, https:\/\/glasprotivnasilstvo.org.mk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Capture-300x155.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We are calling upon the Ministry of Interior, the Public\nProsecutor\u2019s Office and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy to urgently\nresolve these cases and initiate appropriate procedures against the\nperpetrators. The National Network to End Violence against Women and Domestic\nViolence has been continually warning about the increased risk of domestic and\nintimate-partner violence in the state of emergency and calling for urgent\naction in cases of violence against women and children by competent\ninstitutions.
